Big Idea
| By Lei Ann Shiramizu |
The average American woman wears a size 12, so why do some fashion boutiques stock only up to size 10? Tina Christou has pondered this conundrum throughout her corporate retail career, finally defying the norm by opening her dream shop atop Queen Anne in July. It aims to please the curvy girl (up to size 24)with affordable choices that are tantalizing rather than tent-like. Pink Ginger’s fun, femme, striped interior is a candy store of style offering lacy lovelies like bras (up to an H cup, $58) and panties ($36) from Ruby Pink, jeans with slimming seams from Hello! SkinnyJeans (up to 38-inch waist, $178) and softer-than-soft Alternative organic cotton layering tees ($20–$50). Less blessed girls are not forgotten: A selection of smaller sizes is available along with a befitting array of hats, scarves, locally made jewelry, soaps, candles, cards and other girly gifts.
