The Weekend Must List: September 5 - 7

From an indie pop sensation to gut-busting laughter, here are our can't-miss Bumbershoot acts
Bumbershoot
Yes, the end of summer is near, and that means it's time to be one with the crowd and head to Bumbershoot–the city's once-a-year arts and culture mega-fest. Sure, it’s crowded, but it's totally worth the effort. Where else can you see shows 12 hours a day for $50? Music, visual and performing arts, comedy, film, theatre, dance–it’s all here. 9/5 - 9/7, 11 a.m - 11 p.m. Single day: $50; 3-day pass: $120. Seattle Center, 305 Harrison Street. www.bumbershoot.org/tickets.htm
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
Telekinesis
Music
The power-pop sound of up-and-coming indie sensation, Telekinesis, fills the air with a forcefulness and intensity that fans of the band can't get enough of. See them before they blowup so you can say you knew of them back when. 8 - 9 p.m. EMP/SFM Sky Church
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
Matt Braunger/Reggie Watts/Todd Barry
Comedy
Warning–don't drink anything while watching the stand up performances from this trio. Matt Braunger (of the L.A.-based Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre), alternative comedy master (and Maktub lead singer) Reggie Watts, and actor Todd Barry (The Wrestler and HBO's Flight of the Conchords) are sure to inspire plenty of drink-spilling when crowds burst into gut-busting laughter during this show. 3:45 - 4:45 p.m. Comedy Stage North
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
Gage Academy Drawing Jam
Drawing and Sculpture
Last year, Drawing Jam, the Gage Academy's free art demonstration—complete with figure models and art supplies—was a surprise hit. Be sure to swing by this year to see what all the fuss is about while getting in touch with your inner artist. Beginners welcome! 11 a.m. - 8 pm. Northwest Rooms
