Let’s face it: Life can be overwhelming. Who has the time to get the car fixed, spring clean like your grandmother, figure out how to properly install a car seat, plant a vegetable garden? Well, you can relax. All over town, pros are poised to help. We dug deep to find some of the best and most innovative personal services available. Set them to work, and all you'll have to do is cross things off that to-do list.

SHARPEN YOUR KNIVES
If, like Daniel O'Malley, founder of The Epicurean Edge, you believe the knife makes the meal, you know the value of a scary-sharp cutting edge (in the lingo of blade connoisseurs). When it is time to have your treasured chef’s knife sharpened, don’t run it through an electric sharpener. Instead, wrap it up and run it over to Kirkland, where O’Malley will put the edge back on. Bonus: The gallery-like display of beautifully crafted knives in The Epicurean Edge showroom is
worth the trip.
The Epicurean Edge Kirkland, 107 Central Way 425.889.5980;  epicureanedge.com From $2.25 per inch, or about $20 for a chef’s knife

FIX YOUR FAVORITE VINTAGE JEWELRY

With more than 13 years in the jewelry business, Lisa Esztergalyos is sure to appreciate your vintage pieces as much as you do. She can recut stones, fit a ring to your finger and bring new luster to well-loved bracelets, necklaces and watches. For examples of her work, visit her Web site or pop in to her downtown gallery.

MEND THAT SWEATER OR JACKET
The next time you discover a hole in a favorite sweater or a tear in your jacket, you don’t have to drop those items onto the reject pile. Take damaged dresses or sweaters to Phyllis Brown at the Alterations and Reweaving Center in Wallingford. With more than 50 years of experience, she can mend tears and holes to look like nothing ever happened.

REVITALIZE YOUR PHOTOS
If your old family photos are looking worse for wear, PixSavers can restore them to their original luster. Owner Steve Lehman, a former Microsoft engineer, has more than 30 years of photography experience, and the store will repair photos damaged by fire or water, improve contrast and lighting, and remove stains or fading. Because the Shoreline office has limited space, it is closed to customers, but PixSavers offers free local pickup and delivery or accepts photos by mail outside the delivery area.
