Georgetown Revival
| By Lei Ann Shiramizu |
In the heyday of Hollywood, glamorous home furnishings characterized by bright colors, ornate details and high shine became all the rage. Thanks to Leah Steen, this contemporary style, known as Hollywood Regency, was resurrected in Georgetown when her shop opened in mid-March. The former interior designer playfully mixes fabulous with functional in her airy showroom, combining furniture, home accessories, stationery, gifts and goods for the urban gardener. Upholstered pieces, particularly the re-creations of Californian company MetroSofa, contrast vintage gilded frames with modern graphic prints (early-20th-century couch, $3,500). Lighting is another highlight: A ceramic white horse chessmanlamp from Shine Home glows for $395. Steen hasn’t forgotten the details, offering unique and practical gift items such as retro-colored Grobal self-watering planters ($12.95–$19.95).
