Lighthouse Road Trip!
| By Taylor Wagner |
The point of Point No Point Lighthouse is obvious at sunset
WHERE: Point No Point Lighthouse in Hansville, at the northern tip of the Kitsap Peninsula.
WHY: Just an hour outside of Seattle, the lighthouse keeper’s residence is available for rental, and offers gorgeous views of Puget Sound, Mount Baker and the Seattle skyline, along with loads of history (it’s the oldest beacon on Puget Sound)—without the bother of fussing with the giant light.
ADDED BONUS: The United States Light House Society donates all rental proceeds to Point No Point’s preservation.
BRING: Galoshes for damp walks on driftwood-strewn beaches and binoculars for bird watching—the lighthouse is adjacent to a nature preserve.
DON’T MISS: The Lighted Christmas Boat Parade (12/19 & 12/20) off the coast of nearby Poulsbo.
Point No Point Lighthouse, Hansville, 9005 Point No Point Road NE; 415.362.7255; uslhs.org; $175–$210/night.
