Seattle designer Luly Yang takes a cue from the phrase “art as fashion” for her highly anticipated annual fall fashion show, this year entitled “The Creation” and scheduled for October 9. Drawing inspiration from Michelangelo, the statue of David and LaCupola among other work, the designer’s new collection of lacy yet modern creations will pay tribute to historic European fashion, while gracing the stage with garments in leaf greens, ivories and muted blues. As always, the feminine form acts as Yang’s muse, with impeccably draped silks and satins and sensuous column shapes on the runway. Expect to see lucky clients in their Luly designs making a runway appearance, along with five children representing the evening’s beneficiary, the nonprofit Camp Korey in Carnation, who will wear specially designed outfits. 5:30 p.m. Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Spanish Ballroom, 411 University St.; 206.623.8200; $125–$500; lulyyang.com.
