Work by Allison Manch
Seattle artist Allison Manch continues to prove herself a master of surprising juxtaposition with her current show at Grey Gallery, Gimme Shelter. With this new work, she returns to her beloved embroidery as a means for sticking a pin in her own romantic ideas about the American West. Stitching everything from family photos to pop song lyrics to Richard Avedon portraits into hand-dyed, found handkerchiefs and doilies, Manch creates her own Manifest Destiny.
