Beacon Hill
The Beacon Hill Concert Series, Beacon Rocks! (rockitspace.ning.com/page/beacon-rocks) is a roster of family-friendly outdoor music events happening this summer at Beacon Hill’s new party-hearty site, the Lander Festival Street—an area extending north of the Beacon Hill Sound Transit station created expressly for neighborhood celebrations. Sponsored by a new group calling itself Beacon Hill Music, the festival encompasses Sunday concerts on June 13, July 11 and August 8 and 29, all from 1 to 5 p.m., and promises neighborhood musicians and “a lively state of being excellent.”
Columbia City
Thanks to light rail, Columbia City is just a quick, cheap, no-parking-hassle train ride away. Hop on board and head to the Columbia City Farmers’ Market (seattlefarmersmarkets.org/markets/
columbia_city), running Wednesdays, 3–7 p.m., throughout the summer. After loading up with fresh produce and cut flowers, put the icing on your adventure with a scoop of soft serve from the elusive-but-worth-the-hunt Ice Cream Cowboyz booth.
