Thanksgiving girls' dresses—who knew?

I've seen a lot of kids' catalogues in my nearly eight years of parenting, but a new issue of one came across my desk the other day that really caught my eye. Not only does Seattle-based company Chasing Fireflies have cute stuff for kids (though the catalog itself is pretty blah in terms of design and photography), it is also organized by holiday and then by theme, according to what your kids are into.

The usual poofs of taffeta--and more creative holiday dresses and coats--are there for the girls, but what really floored me were the Thanksgiving dresses like these below. I want a grown-up version of the brown silk swing dress. (Both $118)

Holiday outfits for little boys are cute, but not nearly as plentiful as the girlie offerings, as usual (there's a million-dollar idea for a momtrepreneur to run with, once and for all). How adorable is this vest ($88), though?!

Their "what your kids are into" theme pages have some great items I haven't seen before. If your kid is into astronauts and space, there's a NASA space suit costume (with a cool white backpack for the oxygen tank!), a rocket sleeping bag and even a rocket lava lamp. Dinosaurs more their thing? This sleeping bag with a dinosaur for a pillow and a jurrasic era landscape to which little dinos attach with velcro ($78) is sure to blow them away.

First, I love the look of the catalog. If you were to take a look at a random sampling of the market, you would see Gymboree, Children’s Place, Gap and other mundane offerings. Chasing Fireflies is the one catalog I know people look forward to receiving, because it is fresh and fun. Second, they are not a new catalog. They
