Freshly Felled Trees, Nemah, Washington from SAWDUST MOUNTAIN
A few months ago I snuck a peek at Sawdust Mountain, local photographer Eirik Johnson's new book, from arts editor Brangien Davis' desk. As a native Washingtonian who has spent a lot of time in rural pockets of the state, Johnson's images--which focused on the communities and landscapes of old logging towns--struck a particularly strong chord with me. Logs, mountains, abandoned trucks, burly mountain men and cute grandmothers all make an appearance in this ode to the Pacific Northwest and the people who are influencing the area's natural environment. Stop by the Henry's Fall Open House tonight to see this and other fall exhibits. 6-8 p.m. members. 8 p.m.-11 p.m. open to the public. Henry Art Gallery, 15th Avenue NE & 41st Street; 206.543.2280

Oh yeah, get to the open house early to snag comp cupcakes, beer and wine. Guests can also order up food from Skillet, Marination Mobile, and Hallava Falafel.
