Our top to-do's this weekend: experience 200-year-long teen angst; watch films on a stranger's couch; and hear jazz greats toot their horn

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6
PNB’s Mopey at McCaw Hall

Dance
With music from the 18th century (by C.P.E. Bach) and the 20th century (by The Cramps), the modern dance piece “Mopey” proves that tastes may change, but adolescent angst never goes out of fashion. Choreographed by Germany’s young Marco Goecke, this 15-minute “solo blitzkrieg” through the teenage years is part of Pacific Northwest Ballet director Peter Boal’s Director’s Choice mixed bill. Other works are Mozart’s “Petite Mort,” Glazunov’s “The Seasons” and Bernstein’s “West Side Story Suite.” Times and prices vary. McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Queen Anne; 206.441.2424; pnb.org

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7
Couch Fest

Film
Contrary to popular belief, you do have to leave your living room to experience Seattle’s second annual Couch Fest. But we promise it’s worth it! Over the course of a day, you’ll stroll from host house to host house, plop down next to a bunch of other cinema-crazed adventurers and watch locally crafted short films compiled into 30-minute, themed showings. Last year’s event featured 200 films—including comedies, animated films, music videos and more—at 10 different houses. As the banner on the Couch Fest Web site asserts, “Watching short films in strangers’ houses = awkwardly awesome.” We couldn’t agree more. 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Free. Times and locations vary. For film details and map, see couchfestfilms.com

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8
Earshot Jazz Festival

Music
This is your last chance for a memorable experience at the 21st annual Earshot Jazz Festival which celebrates Seattle’s contribution to the world of jazz. Featuring over 50 events in various venues around Seattle, this adventurous festival comes to a close on November 8. From improvisation to large ensemble infusion of jazz, hip hop and classical, this festival has it all. Times, prices and locations vary.
