Efeste Evergreen 2008 Riesling
(Columbia Valley ($16)
This year’s Seattle magazine “Winemaker to Watch,” Brennon Leighton has a history with Riesling. He worked at Chateau Ste. Michelle as its white-wine maker, crafting its excellent Eroica Riesling as well as other whites. At Efeste, Leighton has brought all his skills to this dry Riesling, from the Evergreen Vineyard near George, a cooler, higher elevation site that helps the grapes ripen slowly and develop great acidity. Mineral, green apple and zesty lime notes make this an easy-drinking, food-friendly wine. Pair it with: Trout just off the grill.

Available at local wine shops
