The Forest Service is leading a series of snowshoe walks at Snoqualmie Pass this winter. Participants will drink in all of nature's "off-season" beauty while learning about snowshoeing and winter ecology. Group size is limited to the first 20 who sign up; advance reservations required (call 509.852.1062). Ninety minute walks leave every Saturday and Sunday from January 3 through March 29 at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m from the Visitor Information Center. Those seeking more can sign up for extended half-day jaunts into Commonwealth Basin, leaving at 9:15 AM every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Snowshoes provided; proper snow attire and boots required. Donations of $10 for the shorter outings and $20 for the longer ones are encouraged. Kids under 10 discouraged. To get to the Visitor Center, exit I-90 east at exit 52, bear right , proceed just past the Summit West lodge and look on the right side of the road for the small gray building next to a kiosk and a flag pole.
