Do you, or a foodie friend, want to learn how to cook the Julia Child way? Let chef Lisa Dupar guide you on February 23rd, at her "Vivre Julia Child!" cooking class

Since the movie "Julie and Julia" was released last year, a whole new generation of home cooks have become enamored by the classic recipes taught by the inimitable Julia Child. Now, chefs Lisa Dupar and Jonathan Zimmer are pleased to bring you "Vivre Julia Child!", a cooking class geared towards the serious home cook. Dupar explains what prompted her to offer such a class: "I was so inspired by how humble Julia was when I met her years ago and she kept the focus of our conversation on ME even though I was a young, new sous chef for Westin Hotels."

During the 2 1/2 hour class, students will learn sauce making, and such terms as monter au beurre, beurre marie, liaison, reduction, and slurry. The class includes such dishes as herbed omelettes, asparagus with hollandaise, coq au vin (stewed chicken in red wine with onions and bacon), and Grand Marnier soufflés.

She shares one fond, personal "Julia" story: "Back when I was at the Westin and I met Julia, there was a young reporter pushing her to find out about her “love life”. Her husband had died and she had a special friend in her life at the time. I think she was in her late 70s or early 80s at that time. Anyway, Julia clearly did not want to talk about this but the reporter pressed her again about her “boyfriend”. She was so cute, her only response was, “Well you know, young lady, it’s always nice to have a gentleman to go fetch the firewood for you.” Then she quickly moved back to talking about food!"

Class date is set for Tuesday, Feb. 23, and will run from 6:30pm-9:00pm.
Cost: $75
