Get Real
This eye-tricking method first appeared in ancient Greece and is currently experiencing a revival thanks to a handful of artists and galleries around the country. One such gallery is Bainbridge Island’s Gallery Fraga, which this month hosts The Best of Trompe l’Oeil Today, the largest-ever trompe l’oeil exhibition held in Washington. The exhibit highlights the work of nearly all of the professional artists currently creating at this level of detail in America, including Larry Charles, Lorena Kloosterboer, Becky Bening and others. So hop a ferry and spend a day giving these amazing works a double take. 7/6–9/1. Tue.–Sat. Noon–5 p.m. Free. Gallery Fraga, 166 Winslow Way E, Bainbridge Island; 206.842.1150; galleryfraga.com.
