Shopping: Girl Talk
| By Lei Ann Shiramizu |
“Just because you’ve had kids doesn’t mean you’ve lost your mojo,” proclaim Wendy Schwartz and Julia Marconi, local moms who teamed up to create Fresh, a charming clothing and gift shop in their Wedgwood community. On your coffee run to the neighboring Starbucks, pop into the lime green and periwinkle blue boutique for a tempting screened T-shirt from Loot of Ottawa ($38–$42) or a leather strap bracelet clustered with pearls and gems ($85) by Yessica Beckwith. Along with flirty fashions to keep your groove on, you’ll also find gift-worthy ceramics, candles and funny cards, and treats for baby, such as Binkie Baby rhinestone and ribbon pacifier fasteners ($22) by neighbor Nickole Newell. Opened in June, blocks from their kids’ school, Schwartz and Marconi’s store is already a gathering spot for girls of all ages, a place to share gossip and shop for a bit of bling.
