Those who lament the lack of all-night dining options in the city will have one more option come spring: Scott Horrell, owner of the 9lb Hammer and Loretta's Northwesterner in South Park is expanding into the space next door to his Georgetown bar to open a 24-hour diner. 

Howell is planning a menu of "straightforward diner food," he says, with "quite a few grilled cheese sandwich options," lots of breakfast items, salads, a healthy offering of vegetarian fare to cater to the large number of veg-heads in the neighborhood, and classic milkshakes and ice cream sundaes.

"I hate how everyone in Seattle overdoes it with the most basic food," Howell says. "What I'm doing isn't going to be blandjust normal."

One of the managers he is hiring to run the yet-to-be-named restaurant, which will also serve food to the patrons of the 9lb Hammer next door, Howell says is a 50-something-year-old woman who previously ran an IHOP. "I've done the whole hipster thing, with people whose job is more about their social lives," he says. What he really wants is someone who knows how to keep a diner ticking around the clock. "And you know what?" he says, "I bet she shows up."
