The month of August tops the chart for having the most birthdays, and it’s just a few hot weekends away—do you know what you’re getting for your August birthday girl/boy? This whole “birthday month” thing may be news to some of us, but many local businesses have been privy to it and are offering up a few ideas to solve any birthday-gifting woes.

1. Wrappily: August seems to hold the record for most babies born, while September is always a close second. This means that for the next couple of months, gifters are going to be doing a ton of wrapping…not this kind, but the kind that kills a lot of trees. Local gift wrap line Wrappily uses local newspaper presses to print gorgeous patterns (fresh patterns every season printed just North of Seattle) on 100 percent recyclable and compostable paper. Adorable and eco-chic, your gifts and the environment will live wrappily ever after.

2. Greenvelope: Speaking of saving trees, Greenvelope, an online company sourced out of Seattle allows party hosts to send “paper-like” invitations that are elegant and visually appealing but totally online. To continue on with the green theme, the company donates a percentage of sales to Mountain to Sound, a Seattle-based non-profit that conserves forests. Hosting a birthday event soon? You can check out its new summer party and birthday collections. Bonus: Greenvelope kindly offered 20 percent off these next couple of months to our dear readers. Use coupon code “SeattleMag.”

3. Hot Cakes Molten Cakery has launched three new caramel sauces inspired by autumn and the outdoors as part of its “Wilderness Collection.” We’re talking uninhabited and wild flavors like bright Stinging Nettle caramel, a smoky Campfire caramel and an herby Wild Sage caramel. The jars will be available in the store at $12 a pop starting next week. Also, a second Hot Cakes locale is in the works. The molten cakery will bring its rich, decadence to Olive Way on Capitol Hill soon.

4. Kari Gran’s Lip Whip in the new shade Marsala, was inspired by Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year and just oozes all things autumnal. For more products for the beauty lover, don’t miss Kari Gran’s skincare sale going on September 15 – 30 offering 20 percent off of selected products. Ms. Gran’s products aren’t on sale except for once a year…so we suggest you pencil this one in.

5. Treatbox is a box of treats—12 warm, freshly baked cookies, to be more specific–that is delivered right to your door. No one can say no to that. You can send them to your birthday buddy’s office or school, too. Next month, you can expect a couple of new and exciting additions to your box of cookies. First, two new cookie flavors will be added to the menu: a Campfire S’mores cookie (studded with chunks of Theo chocolates) and a gluten-free Chewy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie. If that’s not exciting enough, Treatbox let us in on a secret: Treatbox and Slate Coffee Roasters are coupling up. That’s right people, starting in a couple of weeks, you can have your cookies and your locally hand-prepared cold coffee brew delivered right to your living room.

6. Still Spa at the Woodmark is treating its August birthday babies pretty well this year. Its August special is a $65 pedi which includes a chocolate martini and a hand-crafted caramel. If you mention that you’re a birthday girl/boy, you’ll get an extra 10 percent off. September birthday? Treat yourself to its 60-min Aroma Journey massage (for $125, regularly priced at $150) where you create your own, unique blend of organic essential oils at their aroma design bar. Your massage therapist will then use this blend for your customized 60-minute massage. Fancy.
