Running, just like sauerkraut or Michael Bay movies, is an acquired taste. While it might not be an activity that some of us particularly enjoy, we know there are a lot of you Seattleites who do like your cardio à la Forrest Gump (gnarly beard optional).

In honor of today being National Running Day, we dedicate this post to you, the Northwest running enthusiast. Lace up your sneakers, tighten your Fitbit and get ready to run in these upcoming Seattle races.

6/3 Brooks Sports Running Fun Run

Today at 5 p.m., the Seattle-based sneaker and apparel retailer is hosting a hilly, 4-mile Fun Run through north Queen Anne. Gather at its Trailhead store at 3400 Stone Way, then enjoy post-run snacks and drinks. Find more info here.

6/6 Seattle Magazine Brunch Run 5k

Did someone say mimosas?

Join us bright and early on Saturday, June 6 as we host the Brunch Run 5k at Magnuson Park. Participants can look forward to post-race samples from the best names in the Seattle brunch business as well as mimosas and Bloody Marys galore (!!). Each participant will receive a free Brunch Run t-shirt, three tickets for drinks and three tickets for bites. Not that we’re tooting our own horn or anything, but this will probably be the best 5K in the history of 5Ks…just saying.

Register here; you won’t regret it! For more information visit the Facebook page and/or follow us on Twitter.

6/9 Ravenna Run the Ravine 4K, 8K, & 12K

Next Tuesday’s Run the Ravine is the first event in Northwest Trail Runs’ Tuesday Night Trail to Grill series. This particular run goes through the 4.1km loop in Ravenna Park, just north of the U-District. Ravenna’s lush forest trail is a perfect setting for runners looking to escape the city. Online registration ends this Sunday, but day-of registration is perfectly acceptable. Heads up: runners who participate in three or more trail runs get a free chipmunk water bottle!

Visit nwtrailruns.com for more information about the Trail to Grill series (and the adorable chipmunk water bottle).

6/13 Rock n’ Roll Marathon & Half Marathon

Seattle’s loudest footrace returns next Saturday, June 13 at Seattle Center. The ever-popular Rock n’ Roll Marathon series kicks off Seafair with your choice of an 8K, half marathon or full marathon race. Live local bands (hence the rock n’ roll) and cheer teams will line the marathon courses every mile to provide entertainment to runners and spectators alike. Each course winds through the best scenery the city has to offer–Pike Place, Rainier Ave, and Seward Park included–before ending at Seattle Center.

The 8K is already sold out but you can still register for the marathon or half marathon. Visit runrocknroll.com/seattle for more information.
