The 25 Best Burgers in Seattle

We dare you to try them all.
The luxe Juicy Lucy burger at John Howie Steak in Bellevue

Oh, thank you, Earl of Sandwich, the first man to put meat between slices of bread. And thank you, too, people of Hamburg, Germany, who, legend has it, made a steak of ground meat and called it a hamburger. That was 300 years ago, give or take. Since then, the splendid taste of a salty-meaty patty, with pickles, lettuce and onions on a sesame seed bun, has become an icon of Americana, more American than apple pie.

The hamburger is a taste we never tire of, and one that local chefs can’t help tinkering with. So for our celebration of all the best burgers in Seattle, we set up some “ground rules”: Patties must be made of ground meat (chicken breasts don’t count, Californians) and they must be served on a bun (salad doesn’t count, carbophobes).

Let the burger worship begin:

Nice invention story

Quick! Don't look at Louis' Lunch! What you read in SeattleMag is true and accurate... sure...

Best burger

I've had many burgers here since moving to Seattle but nothing comes close to IN N Out burger. Seattle truly needs a real burger joint that has fair pricing. Rather than something such as Red Mill burger and end up paying $12 bucks for a burger and fries then left walking away wondering why I paid $12 bucks.

At IN N Out you order a Double Double, Fries and large coke all for $6.15 cents. Everyhting maid to order, everything fresh, nothing frozen.

And I guarantee you'll go back for more.

It's sad that one of the best

It's sad that one of the best burgers wasn't mentioned. How many burgers were eaten before the voting began? One of the best burgers I've ever eaten was from McMenamin's (Queen Anne) and it's called "Wilbur's Jumbo Deluxe Burger". If you haven't eaten one, you're missing out!

???

I think I've had almost every burger on this list, Lil Woody's should have been close to the top, the flavor + temperature + size + the bun + the price = one of the best. As far as yuppie burgers The Spring Hill burger should have been number one hands down. And I would like to note: the Smith burger CRUSHES the Skillet burger all day, if you have not had any of these and you love burgers go get them! Go for taste and not for hype. Also did I not see Lunch Box Lab on any list???
