Free burgers at The Habit Burger Grill in Kent

My love affair with The Habit Burger Grill started about eight years ago when I moved from San Francisco to the East Bay suburb of Walnut Creek. Walnut Creek had much to offer to a Nor Cal city girl: affordable houses, better schools, free downtown parking, and a new Habit Burger Grill located walking distance from our 2.5 bedroom townhouse.

The casual burger joint started in 1969 in Santa Barbara (they now have 125+ restos nationwide), and anyone who lives north or south of that original location can tell you it is a coveted stop on the way to Los Angeles or S.F. There is an In ‘n’ Out along that route as well, but I think The Habit is superior for its sturdier, seed-studded buns, bigger, chargrilled patties, and just-shredded fresh lettuce. The fries (regular and sweet potato) and handspun shakes are better, too, and I like that they offer non-meat eaters line-caught, sushi-grade ahi tuna grilled over an open flame.

On Nov. 18, The Habit Burger Grill will officially open the doors of its first restaurant in Washington state, and they’re celebrating prior, on Saturday, Nov. 14, by offering guests a free Charburger, french fries and a drink from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m. The new Habit is located in The Marketplace at Lake Meridian (12900 SE Kent Kangley Road) in Kent. The company plans to roll out 25 more locations in Washington by 2022.
