Age: 40
Occupation: Wine writing, blogging, education and social media consulting. Also works at Bottlehouse
Neighborhood: Capitol Hill
Orientation: Straight
Grew up: Outside of Chicago
Why Seattle? I fled an IT job in Chicago in 1994 to pursue the wine business full-time and haven’t looked back. (Though I do miss riding the El everywhere.) Seattle has considerable charms that make it an easy place to stay. Ferries would be a great example.
Personal mission: It is important to stay upbeat and positive amidst snark and cynicism. It took me a while to get to this point, but I guess that’s what my 20s and 30s were for….
Favorite guilty pleasure: Watching Pawn Stars
How would you spend a million dollars? I’d buy a place in Tasmania. Seriously.
Best place to eat a meal solo in Seattle: The counter adjoining the open kitchen at La Bête or the bar at Dinette
Single in Seattle. Love it? Hate it? Discuss: It’s like anywhere: You get out of it what you put into it.
Favorite place for a first date: Somewhere quiet enough for conversation, but loud enough to shield others from your awkward moments
