!–paging_filter–pWith the start of a new year, many of us vow to better our lives. We resolve to act with more kindness, to live more mindfully, to take action to improve our communities. And, the real toughie: to eat well. Making a regular stop for lunch at LECT’s, the lunchbox-size house (look for the soup pot on the roof) in Georgetown, offers a “two birds with one stone” solution. Keep the resolution to eat healthier by opting for LECT’S VEGAN GARDEN VEGGIE SOUP (one of three daily soups; see the online calendar for daily selections; $5–$6.50 for a 16-ounce serving and a roll) while your money goes to support your proverbial neighbor; LECT is an acronym for Life Enhancement Charitable Trust, which provides eye glasses, hearing aids and dentures to people on low incomes. Should you tire of sainthood, opt for my favorite: a soup that’s a blend of broccoli, cheddar, Georgetown Brewing Co. beer and bacon. Hitting one bird is better than none. Lunch Mon.–Fri. Georgetown, 5327 Denver Ave. S; 206.829.8204; a href=”http://www.lectssoupstop.com” target=”_blank”lectssoupstop.com/a/p
