Construction Cabinet: Mayor Ed Murray signed an executive order Tuesday morning to create a new city cabinet. Pending City Council approval, the new Office of Planning and Community Development would oversee the city’s current growth and population boom, says The Seattle Times. Stolen Goods: Missing some stuff? Seattle police arrested the suspected ringleader of a burglary ring on Tuesday; after searching his house they found hundreds of electronic and jewelry items that they are trying to return to owners, says Q13 Fox. Police say they recovered everything from laptops to stamp collections. Technology Workshop: The Seattle Police Department hosted a workshop Tuesday to disucss the possibility of putting body cams on all SPD officers, says GeekWire. Law enforcement agencies from around the country were invited to the workshop launched by Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole and Mayor Ed Murray. “I believe in body cams, everyone in the patrols should have them,” Murray said. Hockey, eh?: Good news for hockey fans: Seattle is apparently still in the running for a major league hockey team. ESPN reports that Seattle still ranks second on the list of cities that the NHL wants to add, right behind Las Vegas. While the NHL has no official plans to add the cities, putting teams in Vegas and Seattle would create a balance between the East and West Conferences (giving both 16 teams)….just saying.
