Within the last year, four new health-care facilities have opened up on the Eastside. Overlake Hospital and Medical Center launched three clinics: primary care clinics in downtown Kirkland and Redmond Town Center and an urgent care clinic in Redmond’s Creekside Crossing development.

The goal is to locate clinics in residential areas to provide more convenient access for families. Swedish Medical Center is reaching out to the community of Issaquah with a new facility as well, but has taken a very different approach with a brand-new hospital that boasts an elegant atrium, food court, meditation areas, Starbucks and boutiques to encourage the local community to feel more comfortable in a hospital setting. The Shops at Swedish include a fine lingerie boutique that carries apparel for women (including breast cancer patients), an upscale gift shop, with locally made artisanal chocolates and accessories and a wellness boutique with unique skin-care products.
