Poke, pizza and paella! Three new Seattle restaurants to try now

Veraci, Tarsan i Jane, and Sam Choy's Poke to the Max open their doors

Veraci Pizza, Wedgewood

The third restaurant from the team behind one of Seattle’s first gourmet food trucks (circa 2004) is open after a near 7-month buildout. At the brand-new (and re-branded) Veraci’s Pizza & Pasta in Wedgewood, you’ll find an open kitchen, seating for 22, and executive chef Marshall Jett’s new pasta dishes. Jett, who has a background in fine dining not to mention teaching and forest ranging, has been cooking up bechamel sauce since he was 10. Look for his 7-veggie sugo and bolognese atop Medallion Foods and Pasta & Co’s fresh noodles. Also: meatballs, sausages, rosemary foccacia baked fresh daily, and grab & go items. They’re open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max, Hillman City

Finally, you don’t have to pass your entire lunch break waiting in line at Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max food truck in Westlake. Save your Hawaiian raw fish cravings for later, when you can hit up the new brick and mortar for all of your favorites: ahi tuna poke salads, rice bowls, and wraps plus island favorites like Kahlua pulled pork and the shrimp boat sandwich. We’re soooper jealy this isn’t in our hood. Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Tarsan i Jane, Frelard

We were sad to see Tray Kitchen leave the hood, but super psyched to have a Spanish restaurant so close to home. The new Tarsan i Jane is from Los Angeles power couple Perfecto Rocher and Alia Zane. Rocher specializes in Valencian cuisine and his paella is LA Times critic Jonathan Gold-approved. It will be the focus of a five-course brunch on Sundays only (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.). In the bar, it’s all about Spain’s gin and tonic obsession as well as beer and sherry cocktails. For dinner, they’re open 5 to 10 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays for a tasting menu dinner.
