Primed for Success?: Despite the mixed reaction to Amazon’s first Prime Day, including thousands of #PrimeDayFail jokes on Twitter, Amazon announced that it sold more on July 15 than it did on Black Friday last year. According to Business Wire, more people signed up to try Amazon Prime than on any other day, and sales reached 398 items purchased per second. Greg Greeley, Amazon Prime vice president, called Prime Day “a huge success.” Some of the highest selling units included 56,000 Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy sets, 51,000 Bose Headphones, 24,000 Instant Pot 7-in-1 Pressure Cookers, and 28,000 Rubbermaid 42-Piece Food Storage sets. It was a good day for hobbits and tupperware.

Seahawks Steal: Want to see the Seahawks play live but don’t want to spend half a paycheck on tickets? On Monday, July 20, 1,700 regular season tickets will go on sale for only $62 apiece. You can get in line this Sunday, July 19, at 6 p.m. at the CenturyLink Field NW Box Office to get a wristband, which lets you come back on Monday morning (no overnight camping allowed) to get in line again to buy tickets starting at 8 a.m. Expect a lot of standing in line! It’s totally worth it though, especially since Forbes is reporting that Seattle now has the most expensive tickets in the secondary market in the entire NFL. The average Seahawks ticket costs over $400!

Soccer Stars: The International Champions Cup is tonight at CenturyLink Field. It’s a match between English Premier League club Manchester United and Club America, based in Mexico City. Manchester United has been practicing this week at Virginia Mason Medical Center (normally the Seahawks training facility) in preparation for tonight’s match. A large crowd is expected to show tonight at CenturyLink. In 2011 when Manchester United played against the Sounders, the number of fans reached 67,052, the second largest crowd in Sounders history. Manchester United beat the Sounders 7 to 0 in that game, with Manchester United’s captain, Wayne Rooney, scoring a hat trick. You can still get tickets here!

Environmentally Friendly Snooping: KIRO 7 News reports that a lawsuit filed on Thursday of this week alleges that Seattle’s food waste law, you know the one that requires garbage collectors to check your garbage cans for compostable food and other recyclable items, is a violation of privacy. The law went into effect this year on January 1, and is an attempt to get Seattle residents to compost and recycle on a regular basis. The new lawsuit, however, claims that the monitoring of trash cans is actually unlawful snooping.

Saying Goodbye: E.T. the walrus passed away on Thursday evening after undergoing surgery at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.  E.T. had been ill for quite awhile and had lost about 700 pounds, weighing in at 2,750 pounds around the time of his death. The walrus was found in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska by oil workers over three decades ago. He wandering by himself and weighed just 155 pounds. E.T. had been at Point Defiance since 1982. He was 33 years old. Rest in peace, big guy.
