Purple Cafe’s massive wine garage sale is here

'Tis the perfect time to stock up for the holidays

The only thing I love more than a great bottle of wine is a great bottle of wine at 50 percent off. Especially at this pre-holiday time, when stocking up and saving money is a must.

Every year, just before the holiday storm, the folks at Purple Cafe & Wine Bar pull hundreds of bottles from their shelves and bring them to one location for a three-hour sale of epic proportions. This year, the sale is from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at Cast Iron Studios in Bellevue.

Need Thanksgiving dinner wines? Christmas hostess gifts? Bubbly to pair with Hanukkah latkes or New Year’s Eve? Get yourself to this sale. Vintages and prices will vary but plan to spend about $10-$25 per bottle and up to $50 for that rare beauty. Honestly, there are a ton of deals here on everything from domestic and international to dessert and sparklings. And, as management told me, they need to move the wines and they’re not going to haul everything back to their restaurants. They want to get rid of it.

Purple will even have sommeliers on hand to help answer questions and open bottles for sampling. Now that’s my kind of garage sale.

Happy hunting.
