Are you wasted away in Margaritaville, searching for your lost shaker of salt and thinking to yourself, “this margarita I made is bland and lacking an enjoyable fruity aftertaste”? Well, it could be your fault if you haven’t tried local entertaining expert, food blogger and former chef Heather Christo’s fresh take on the drink, the Cherry Lavender Beer Margarita.

Filled with ripe juicy cherries, sour limes and fragrant lavender, you can even convince yourself it’s a healthier option for a Tuesday after work than overexerting yourself at the gym and drinking tasteless and boring water. It’s practically like drinking a fruit smoothie, except way better because there’s beer and tequila in it.

Christo says it best herself, “Wouldn’t you be happy to serve these at a party, or over the moon to quietly sip one of these from your porch swing on a hot summer’s night?” As a matter of fact Heather, yes we would. Salud!

Cherry Lavender Beer Margarita

Ingredients

  • 1 wedge lime
  • 3 tablespoons table sugar
  • 4 ounces tequila
  • 1 cup fresh pitted cherries
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lavender
  • 4 tablespoons lime juice
  • 8 ounces cold pale ale
Instructions

  1. Sugar the rims of two tall glasses with a lime wedge and dip it into some sugar to coat it. Fill with ice cubes and set aside.
  2. In a large glass combine 2 ounces of tequila, ½ cup cherries and 1 teaspoon sugar and the lavender. Muddle these together into a pulp.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons lime juice and 4 ounces of cold pale ale.
  4. Strain the drink into the prepared sugar rimmed glasses. Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender.
  5. Repeat for the next drink. And serve cold.
