Wine aficionados, brides and partygoers are likely to be spending more time in SoDo this year, thanks to Urban Enoteca (urbanenoteca.com), a new multipurpose venue that offers three private event rooms, a tasting center and its own catering operation. The lofty, industrial-chic space—with heavy beams, stained-concrete floors and décor made from wine-barrel staves—encompasses 22,000 square feet and features a grand entrance whose centerpiece is a canopy of falling water. The catering menu is crafted by chef Jason Wilson of Crush, who will be the exclusive caterer for the event spaces, which range from sleekly modern to rustically elegant. The tasting center will eventually feature 12 boutique wineries from Eastern Washington (including Fidélitas and Cave B), situated side by side at counters staffed by each winery—sometimes by the winemakers themselves. Hours vary. 4130 First Ave. S; 206.467.9463; urbanenoteca.com.
