In Search of Berries: The Best Berry Picking Spots Near Seattle

Head to one of these U-pick locations for all of your favorite summer berries

If you’re like us, there is no such thing as too much when it comes to berries. They’re healthy, juicy and delicous–how could anyone resist!? And if you’re in the mood for a little adventure, family fun or a way to really connect with your food (U-pick is basically as local as you can get!), why not satisfy your craving by visiting one of these locations–some of which are already open or are opening soon–for some good old-fashioned summertime berry picking:

Bainbridge Island Blueberry Co. (Bainbridge Island): blueberries

Cost: Prices vary. Cash only.

Hours: Will open for the season mid-July. Check its Facebook page for availability updates.

Bill’s Berry Farm (Grandview): blueberries, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, peaches and apples.

Cost: Blueberries $2.95/lb; cherries $1.95/lb; raspberries and blackberries $3.10/lb. Cash accepted at all pay stations, card accepted at farm store only.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 4 – 8 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Biringer Farm (Arlington) Strawberries, raspberries, tayberries, black caps (black raspberries) and blackberries

Cost: Strawberries $2.50/lb; tayberries $3.75/lb; raspberries $3.25/lb; black caps $4.25/lb; blackberries $3.75/lb. Cash or card.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Blue Dot Farm (Enumclaw): blueberries

Cost: $30/large bucket and $15/small bucket. Cash only.

Bolles Organic Berry Farm (Monroe): raspberries, blueberries and strawberries

Cost: Prices vary. Cash, check or card.

Broers Farms (Monroe): raspberries and blueberries 

Cost: Bluberries $3/lb; raspberries $2.50/lb. Cash only.

Bybee Farms (North Bend): blueberries 

Cost: $2.10/lb. Cash or check only.

Hours: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Will open for the season mid-July.

Canter-Berry Farms (Auburn): blueberries

Cost: Prices vary.

Hours: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Will open for the season mid-July.

Harvold Berry Farm (Carnation): strawberries and raspberries

Cost: $2.75/lb. Cash only.

Linbo Blueberry Farm (Puyallup): blueberries

Cost: $2.50/lb. Cash or check only.

Cost: $2.35/lb. Cash (prefered) or card.

Picha Farms (Puyallup): strawberries and raspberries

Cost: Strawberries $1.85/lb; raspberries $3/lb. Cash or check only.

Raising Cane Ranch (Snohomish): raspberries

Cost: $4/lb up to 10 lbs, $3.50/lb up to 20 lbs, and $3/lb for 20 lbs+. Cash and card.

Remlinger Farms (Carnation): strawberries and raspberries

Cost: Raspberies $2.50/lb; Strawberries $2/lb. Cash only.

Schuh Farms (Mount Vernon): blueberries, marionberries, raspberries, tayberries, boysenberries, blackberries, cherries and strawberries.

A few ways to use up all those berries:

Make a pie! PCC is offering a pie-making class for teens on July 10.

Sprinkle them into pancake batter. Here’s a superhealthy, easy, gluten-free pancake recipe made with just four ingredients.

Go for a classic and make a jar of summer berry jam. Blue Chair Fruit is offering a Jam Making 101 class on July 8.

Bake up a berry crumble (see this recipe for a Blackberry Coconut Macadamia from local food blogger Heather Christo or this recipe for wild berry tarlets for inspiration).

Put them in ziploc bags and freeze so you’ll have fresh berries late into the fall and winter months.

Can them! PCC offers a Canning 101 class at several points during the summer (the next available class is July 27).

Freeze them and then put them in the food processor with vanilla extract and a little sweetener for a delicious, healthy homemade sorbet.
