On the heels of Spanish fast-fashion retailer Zara opening and with plans for a third-floor revamp next year, Westlake Center is adding even more activity to its bustling hub, and this addition is sure to please the caffeine-crazed masses. Seattle Coffee Gear, the Lynnwood-based coffee and coffee machines and accessories retailer opens its fourth store and first in Seattle (its three other outposts are located in Bellevue, Lynnwood and Portland) on Tuesday, July 15. The approximately 1,500 square-foot space will offer a dizzying selection of commercial and home espresso machines, coffee makers, grinders and related accessories with many set up for in-store use.

In addition to the convenience of a home delivery option for any items purchased in the store, SCG touts a knowledgeable, coffee-obsessed staff and educational opportunities including recipes, how-to classes, equipment workshops, brewing demonstrations and a website loaded with useful video content for all kinds of coffee or tea enthusiasts.

“Our ultimate goal is to help you find the equipment that is right for you,” Brenna Ciummo, the retailer’s marketing manager told us in an email interview. The Westlake location follows the recent opening of its Portland store in June and is part of a much larger expansion, according to ceo Victor Gehlen.“Seattle has been on the list for awhile and the timing was a matter of finding the right space,” Gehlen says. Seattle Coffee Gear’s Westlake store will feature local roasts including Caffe Ladro, Caffe Lusso, Caffe Umbria, Middle Fork Roasters, Velton’s Coffee and Zoka and will host regular coffee tastings.

SCG’s doors officially open for business on July 15. Find it on the first floor of Westlake Center between Zara and Marbles: The Brain Store. Visit SCG on July 19 for its grand-opening event featuring iced and hot coffee, espresso, iced tea and ice cream. The first 30 shoppers through the door will score free gift bags with goodies like a Hario dripper, shot glasses and coffee, or if you’re feeling lucky, you can enter the raffle for a chance to win gear from brands such as Jura and Baratza.
