It’s officially spring and whether it’s raining or not, our wardrobes are begging for an overhaul. As the layers shed and the down-jackets disappear, it’s only natural that a new crop of threads will make their way to the front of our closets.

To help us rid the gray and welcome the sun, some local shops and designers are hosting events around town, while others are popping up fresh to the scene. Whether it be frocks or footwear, these local happenings are giving us ample opportunity to ensure we move into spring with our best foot forward.

Brooks Sports
What: Launch of its limited-edition Maritime Chariot sneaker

In an ode to its seafaring hometown, Brooks Sports created a collection of lifestyle sneakers called the Northwest Pack within its iconic Heritage Collection. This Saturday, the pack will gain its newest member: the Maritime Chariot. This new, limited-edition sneaker celebrates the maritime culture ingrained deep in Seattle’s history and features colors ranging from deep blue and teal to gray. (All of the sneakers in this line pay homage to a different aspect of Seattle through iconic colors representative of our Emerald City.)

The sports apparel and footwear retailer is celebrating the launch on Saturday, April 4 at 9 a.m. at its Brooks Trailhead store in Fremont. The event will include food, drinks and entertainment for all ages, and the Maritime Chariot will be available for purchase. The first 50 people in line will snag an Ebbet’s Field Heritage Brooks hat. Starting April 4, the Maritime Chariot will also be available for purchase at brooksheritagecollection.com and nordstrom.com, as well as in store at BAIT Seattle and selection Nordstrom locations. 3400 Stone Way N

Spring Flowers & Champagne Hours
What: A stylish pop-up shop featuring local designers

There’s something about blossoms and bubbles that pair together so effortlessly. Throw in several designing ladies and music to the mix and we have Spring Flowers and Champagne Hours. Today, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Object Space, come out for a stylishly long happy hour hosted by some of our favorite hometown designers. The event will feature clothing from contemporary womenswear designer Silvae, handbags by Ampersand as Apostrophe, jewelry from Faris and Rachel Ravitch along with ceramic crafts from The Pursuits of Happiness. Set amid bubbly and tunes spun by Liz Lashes and Djavy McWavy, the event will feature an array of collaborative pieces, sample-sale items, previews and pre-orders, just in time for spring. 2316 2nd Ave; hereisobject.com.

Likelihood
What: New men’s footwear shop opening on Capitol Hill

“We have a core belief that fashion should be about optimism,” says Likelihood co-owner Daniel Carlson, “and when you put on a pair of great shoes it makes you feel good.”

With this belief and a desire to bring their love of footwear to Seattle, Carlson and Aaron DelGuzzo created Likelihood, a new men’s footwear boutique opening May 1 on Capitol Hill at the corner of 11th and Union. The boutique will feature a highly edited assortment of sneakers, brown shoes, boots, bags and jewlery. While the brand list is more fashion than sport, the store will appeal to the everyday guy just as much as the uber fashionable one.

“Footwear is the exclamation point on any outfit,” Carlson says. “It’s a touch-and-feel category. We believe there’s a good style story here to tell.” Stay tuned for more information about store openings and events–like the name implies, we believe this corner of Capitol Hill has good things to come. 1101 E Union; shoplikelihood.com.
