Bok-aste. The bok in me recognizes the bok in you.

We have not had the honor of tasting it first hand, but all of that is about to change on June 1 when the Korean fried chicken temple known as Bok a Bok Korean Fried Chicken & Biscuits opens in White Center. According to a press release on Wednesday, first time restaurateur (and former Skillet and Roux chef) Brian O’Connor will open the fried chicken and biscuit restaurant at 1521 SW 98th St, Suite D.

What’s all the cluck about? It’s supposed to be the crunchiest fried chicken you’ve ever had – wings, breast, and thigh – gussied up in rice bowls and in sandwiches with flavorful Korean accoutrements, like green onion aioli, kimchi and other pickled/fermented goodies. Yes, there will be seasonal soju slushies. And yes, there will be sweet potato tater tots. Chef O’Connor will follow this up with his second restaurant, Same Same Noodle Bar, later this summer or early fall.

In other nirvanic fast food: the wait is over, burger lovers. Seattle now houses Washington’s first and only Steak ‘n Shake at 1417 3rd Ave in the heart of downtown. The epic, Midwestern burger chain is known for its large steak burgers, seasoned fries and monstrous shakes. They opened at 10 a.m. on May 24, hours before the power outage that shut down the area.

If you waited until today to go, consider yourself a smarty.

Steak-aste.
