How dedicated are you to the local movement? Beginning Sept. 19, you’ll have an entire week to show your support of all things made and manufactured in Seattle. And while we appreciate locally made jewelry and furniture, we’d like to focus on the locally curated goods of the edible variety.

The first annual Seattle Made Week is a city-wide celebration of nearly 300 producers, including retailers, grocers and restaurants showcasing their handmade stuff. Theo Chocolate and High 5 Pie are among the founding members of the organization and event, which seeks to promote and support local, job-creating businesses.

We counted about 15 food events over the week. Here are our three musts:

Sept. 19: Two-hour Salad at Trellis Restaurant. The dish gets its name from Chef Brian Scheehser picking the freshest ingredients from his 18-acre farm in Woodinville at 3 p.m., and having it on your plate by 5 p.m. Impressive, eh? The salad changes based on what is ready to be harvested that day. Ingredients may include a fresh variety of lettuces, assorted greens, heirloom tomatoes, beets, peppers, onions, berries, and more.

Sept. 20: That Brown Girl Cooks! at Central Co-op (1600 E. Madison St.). You think hummus is chickpeas and tahini? You haven’t tried Kristi Brown-Wokoma’s kicky, black-eyed pea hummus. Jenise Jammers will also be showcasing her gluten free energy bars.

Sept. 26: Taste of Seattle Made Week at Metropolist. Sample goodies from among 40 locals producers. Unlimited samples of cheese, sausages, chocolate and many other foods are included in the $30 ticket, as are 10 samples of beer, wine or whiskey. Purchase a ticket here.
