Fashion Friday: Weekend Checklist
From a kiddie fashion show to the perfect summer lotion, top picks for a stylin’ summer weekend
There were oodles of fun, hip fashion happenings passing along my desk this week, but 13 photo shoots in 3 days have kept me distracted from my blogging duties. So instead of a small taste, I give you the entire gallon-sized scoop of the best things to do, see and smell this sunny weekend:
Thaw fashion show has gone to the kids! Event organizer (and mom) Liz Weber has pulled together local indie kids’ designers for a too-cute runway show this Saturday at the temporary VitaminWater Social Club on Capitol Hill (1001 E Pike St.). Among the featured designers is our own Seamless in Seattle winner Tyson Andersen of Red Crow Goods. Andersen’s two sons will model his classic Americana jeans, t-shirts paired with bow-ties and plaid jackets. Other local designers will be selling their wares at the post-runway trunk show; additional info and tickets are available here.
Have we mentioned how much we just heart the new Olivine? I could sing the praises of their Prairie Underground tops all the live long day, but what really has me shouting from the rooftop (it’s hot up here, by the way): their killer summer sale kicked off this week, running through the end of the month with discounts up to 50% on Prairie Underground, Michael Stars and other fab merch. Shop it.
Jessica Park’s new little Fremont space, Coming Soon is the latest retail spot to merge art with the art of shopping. Tomorrow night Park and visual artist Jesse Brown team up for an exhibition of his paper-cut out sculptures. In addition to oohing and ahhing over Brown’s delicate pieces (pictured above), the duo has created exclusive (and secret) products to sell at the show. Given the fact that Park is behind this bag (my birthday is October 12, ahem), my gut says you won’t want to miss it, details here.
Not to toot my own horn, but I smell awesome today. Not only did I shower, but someone dropped this on my desk from the makers of local beauty biz, Sweet Beauty. Made with lime butter, mint, Theo organic cocoa butter and organic can sugar, its like summer in a bottle. Also a snifftastic good time: the tangerine truffle sugar scrub.
