New Bar Alert: War Room Becomes HG Lodge
Capitol Hill’s the War Room will reopen tonight with a fresh look and a new name. Dubbed HG Lodge, the new space—complete with lots of rock, taxidermy, wood floors and surfaces and a live ivy wall—looks like a hip ski lodge. Like any Capitol Hill bar worth its weight in trendy Northwestern iconography, HG is loaded with outdoorsy Americana decor, including-- yes--taxidermy. HG remains under the under same ownership as the War Room, which closed earlier this year after the city mandated it and other venues install costly sprinkler systems. The renovated space has a new dance floor and no stage (which allowed it to open without the addition of costly upgrades), but, for some reason, I have a feeling’ HG will still be a spot where folks can get their dance on. Swing by 722 E. Pike street tonight and shake it up at their opening night party featuring Sean Cee, Soul One, Foucolorzack and Nostalgia B.
