There are a lot of new restaurants in Seattle. An exhausting amount, really. I suppose that’s what happens during a city’s growth spurt. And I suppose what happens next is that only a small handful of them will survive. I see it as a sort of unintentional experiment for potential new restaurants—those who plan to open one will be able to see what works in today’s market without actually having to spend their own money. It’s a little morose, but lots can be learned from others' failures.

99 Park opening in Bellevue this summer
An independently owned restaurant is coming to town, and I’m not talking Seattle for once.  Located just off Bellevue Downtown Park, the aptly named 99 Park will be a sleek and sexy little spot when it opens sometime this summer (best case scenario, mid-July). It’s owned and operated by former real estate developer Micha Pittman, who is a Bellevue resident himself. Here are 10 things to know:

Proprietress Kayla Boehme is opening a new boutique, Pipe & Row, deep in the heart of Fremont next Thursday, June 19. The shop, located at 611 N 35th St., in the former Merge location, is described by Boehme as “a mature, quirky boutique that boasts a stock of effortless urban pieces curated to tip toe the boundaries between sexy and slouchy, daring but wearable, classic yet modern.”
