It’s time to roll out the red carpet for all those you’ve invited over to watch the 2014 Oscars (and hopefully it’s a bunch of folks, cause it’s always more fun to watch with a crowd). But to ensure that your Academy Awards party is the winner, serve up one of the following drinks. Two of these bevs match up nicely with films up for Best Picture, and two hearken back to silver screen goddesses of the past, if you're feeling a little nostalgic.

Well played, Occidental Plaza. You managed to get yourself three pretty fantastic anchors courtesy of one of Seattle's most lauded restaurateurs. London Plane, the long-awaited sequel to Matt Dillon's (Sitka & Spruce, Corson Building, Bar Sajor) wine bar and retail shop of the same name opened at 8 a.m. this morning, completing his two-tiered collaboration with Katherine Anderson of Marigold & Mint.

Tom Dixon has left his mod mark from Amsterdam to Barcelona, as well as, most recently, in Paris' trés swanky Eclectic Restaurant (see it here). On Saturday (3/1), 5-8 p.m., Dixon stops at Seattle's Inform Interiors (South Lake Union, 300 Dexter Ave. N; 206.622.1608) as part of his new North American tour.

Spring is just barely upon us, but you may still need to shake out those winter chills after a long and dreary season. In our March issue, we wrote about road tripping it to Sol Duc Hot Springs and Resort, which is nestled in a valley carved by the mighty Sol Duc River in the Olympic Peninsula and embraced by old-growth evergreens. But we couldn’t just stop at one. Here are a few of our favorite not-too-far-away places to soak up the healing hot mineral waters.

Back in January, Allison Scheff broke news that Dot's Delicatessen would be closing its Fremont doors to make way for a revamp that would ultimately see it transform from corner deli to Dot's Charcuterie & Bistrot. And tonight, ladies and genteleman, is the night of the grand reveal.

I rarely follow celebrities on Twitter because of snooze-ville tweets like this. I much prefer to get my dose of daily news and commentary from journalists and other witty average Joes and Janes of the world. This Sunday, March 2, marks the 86th Annual Academy Awards, the day when fancy-pants celebs in grand gowns and suits descend upon Hollywood's Dolby Theatre and pretend they've not disowned carbs for the past two months.

If the stars align, Pioneer Square will be getting a pair of awesome neighbors right around June.

Sweet Petula bodycare creator, Formulary 55 owner and longtime fixture in the Seattle-area retail scene, Cordelia Smith, announced yesterday that she's moving herself and the biz down to Pueblo, Colorado (for the affordable living and high quality of life). Starting today, Smith will not be open her normal business hours, but does plan to open the store a few more times before hightailing it out of here towards the sun.

A well-fitted button up shirt can do wonders for a woman’s figure, in my humble opinion. Done right, it buttons without gaping, hugs the lines of her back and sides without bulging, shows off her lovely hourglass shape and strikes a very sophisticated and polished cut of her jib. Too often, though, the fit is not correct, and both gaps and bulges are present, which is probably why many women have sworn off fitted tops that button up the front. I know I have for the most part, opting instead for looser fitting blouses and knitted tops.

The real brunt of winter is hopefully behind us, and our winter was no polar vortex, but the dry and itchy skin that results from being inside with the heater cranked has just been brutal this season. Kiehl’s, one of my favorite American heritage brands, has just launched two new products, sent from heaven to relieve the parched visage that stares back from the mirror each morning.

If you never got the chance to visit the much celebrated Cassis when it was located on Capitol Hill from 1997 to 2004, you have another chance. Cassis 2.0 is now open for business, and while no longer on the Hill or  located in a weathered old brick building, there are many original comforts intact at the new incarnation of the French bistro.
