If modern architecture is your jam, sign up for the 2014 Modern Home Tour, which happens on Saturday, March 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Five homes, from West Seattle to North Seattle, Magnolia to Leschi, are set to open their doors to design lovers (more homes may be added), during the self-guided tour. Styles range from mid century modern to a remodel of a 1980s home and includes work from notable architect James Chiarelli, Robert Hutchison and Eric Cobb.

Toronto jeweler Anne Sportun is known for her subtle asymmetry and unconventional, yet sophisticated design. Essenza, in Fremont, is known for an inventory of gorgeous, subtle, yet sublime jewelry from small designers (not to mention generous self space for sweet smelling perfume and body care). It’s a retail match made in heaven between Anne Sportun and Essenza and on March 14, 15 and 16, Barb Kelly, from Anne’s studio in Toronto, will be visiting the shop, bringing with her the entire line from the Sportun workshop.

In what is hopefully a sign that hotels, at least the boutique variety, may start bagging traditional room service all together, Miller's Guild is using very non-traditional packaging to deliver order-in. About two weeks ago, chef Jason Wilson and the crew at Hotel Max unveiled a nifty new room service program without using a single silver domed tray in the process.
