Today, we launch Seattle magazine’s 13th annual Top Doctors survey (seattlemag.com/topdocssurvey). Puget Sound–area doctors who receive the most peer-to-peer nominations will be included in the 2013 Top Doctors issue of Seattle magazine.
Our annual Top Doctors feature is one of our most anticipated issues. During our many years of conducting the survey, we have learned how much readers rely on these expert recommendations. We take the responsibility seriously.
Chances are you’ve heard of the BluePrint juice cleanse. Michael Kors does it. Jason Wu does it. Rachel Roy and Blake Lively do it. Ali Brownrigg does it (ok, just did it) and now, thanks to its recent launch at area Whole Foods, you can do it to. (Although, BluePrint will also deliver directly to your door through the mail if you're not close to a Whole Foods.)
Are you ready to paint your face Seahawks blue and then stuff it with game day goodies?
Yeah, sure, you could go out and hit the bar to watch the home team play the Atlanta Falcons, but the fleet-footed Russell Wilson and his crew are going to be up and at 'em Sunday MORNING (game starts at 10:00 a.m. PT), so how about a DIY brunch viewing party instead? Let’s call it a pre-funk, over easy. Or sofa-gating.
This February, Savvy shoppers will notice a change in the department: a disctinct shift towards more affordable, youthful and completely of-the-moment and on-trend looks. Brands entering the fray include Viva Vena Cava, Leith, Mink Pink and others.

More sales on fall/winter inventory! And we've got so much more winter to go!
Butch Blum is hosting their semi-annual sale with 25 to 40 percent reductions on all men’s and women’s fall/winter collections with designs by Blumarine, Luciano Barbera, John Varvatos, Martin Margiela, Moschino, Giorgio Armani and more.
As a Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon has received countless accolades (see: 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical), so little needs to be said about its quality: the tremendously catchy songs, funny writing and outrageous, South Park-style raunchy lines and lyrics. But the big question is: How does the touring show hold up to the New York production? Personally, I don't know. I didn't see the NYC show. But I can say the Seattle show makes for a genuinely fun evening.
MUST SHOP Ampersand As Apostrophe at M.I.A GalleryOpens Thursday (1/10-1/20) — One of our picks for best new art gallery of 2012, M.I.A is partnering with local brand Ampersand As Apostrophe to display (and sell) a swish collection of modern, stylish bags in a “concept store” that aims to challenge our understanding of a gallery space and which objects are classified as fine art. Opening night reception is January 10, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
I’m lazy. If I’m going to eat something that’s good for me, it’s got to be delicious, which is why I have a hard time eating right. I love vegetables, especially in cheesy gratins, which is counterproductive, and I’m a sugar and carb fiend with unpredictable blood sugar issues, which makes my cravings wicked mean when I try to fast.
No, Honoré Bakery's Franz Gilbertson isn't opening a new Spanish-inspired bakery (tears). However, the owner of one of Ballard's best bakeries is a partner in a new Spanish sandwich shop opening in early March on Capitol Hill.
It’s still new in the New Year, there’s time to re-up your follow through on your resolutions in case you feel yourself slipping. In that spirit, I’ll be posting about a different aspect of clean living each day this week—as much for myself as for you.
This week: Bar Method
Kelly Cline is making it pretty near impossible to stick to that New Year’s juice fast resolution. She’s the clever creator of Blue Moon Burger’s monthly specials and for January, she’s cooked up a sandwich that evokes crunchy, corny childhood memories. Especially if you spent some formative years shoveling Frito Pie into your gaping maw!
What? You’ve never heard of Frito Pie? Well, it’s kind of like poor man’s nachos, with chili and cheese plopped on top of a bag of those chips.
In a bid to take over the waxing world, The Wax Bar owner Karen Jahn has opened a new location in Laurelhurst this month, joining salons in West Seattle and Ballard.
The Wax Bar offers personal waxing services from the brow to the bikini lines, ears, nose and toes, a very special service that involves a Brazilian and a Swarovski crystal tattoo, and all manner of facials and other skincare.
In addition, The Wax Bar is the only spa in Washington state with a liquor license, for enjoyment and liquid courage.
If one of your New Years resolutions is to live in the moment, to create more experiences and buy less crap, then the Walrus & Carpenter Oyster Picnic might be just the ticket.
