Sad news out of Queen Anne today: Gift shop Charley + May is closing at the end of January. “After three years the shop is not self sustaining,” said owner Lauren Formicola in her email to the public, “and growth of the shop is limited due to location, space and low pedestrian traffic.” Swing by between now and the end of the month to say goodbye and to snatch up remaining merchandise for 30 to 75 percent off. Displays and shop props are also for sale.

A few weeks ago I had my aura and past lives read by parfumeur and clairvoyant Yosh at Barneys (apparently I have a lovely champagne blush color around me and was a Mayan shaman in a past life, but I bet she says that to all the girls) and next week, Tuesday, January 14, the AstroTwins, Tali and Ophira Edut, will be at the downtown Nordstrom from 6 to 8 p.m.

Head there this weekend (Friday and Saturday, January 3 and 4) for up to 80 percent off select inventory and pick up a free shea butter crème with purchases of $50 or more.

The holidays sure are fun – but they can also leave you feeling a bit bogged down with all the celebratory eating, drinking and merrymaking. If you’re experiencing a post-holiday drag, may I suggest one of the following beverage cures? These sippers may not be completely work appropriate if you sadly have to head back into the office, but they’ll certainly make your day better. Prizefighter

The shopping is plentiful in Bellevue. Our neighbor to the east has become a primo destination for internationally known designer label boutiques and super high-end stores, many of them in the two major malls that anchor the town. La Ree, one of our favorite shops on either side of the lake, is an independent exception to the mass market norm.

During a recent dinner at Dot's Delicatessen (yes, they serve dinner, and yes, you should go; the food is very good), our server dropped the news that Dot's would be renovating to make dinner seating more comfortable.  When I followed up with Dot's owner, Miles James, he told me that the renovation will be a little more involved. In fact, Dot's Delicatessen will close and reopen, becoming Dot’s Charcuterie and Bistrot.
