Professional photographers look out -- a new iPhone app makes editing and sharing photos easier than ever “What good is a picture if you don’t share it?” asks Chase Jarvis, a Seattle-based photographer. We at Seattle mag agree. Which is why every Wednesday we'll be featuring a photo of the week here on our Scoop blog.

You know how when you say a word over and over again, it starts to sound foreign and kind of loses its meaning? After completing week one of my training, I need a new word for "sore." I also need help walking up and down stairs and lifting my arms above my shoulders. I’m in pain here, people. I’m not gonna lie, week one was not easy. So, to recap…..  Things I hate: lunges, interval sprinting on a treadmill, lunges, and the plank. Also, lunges. Did I mention those?

It’s that time of year when our lives are flooded with charity requests. There are walks, runs, drives, dinners – the list is endless. And we’ve had a tough enough year on our own, thank you very much. So how do we decide where to spend our time, money and energy? Here’s what I’m doing: Walking for Ally Warnke. Ally, 10, loves cheerleading and golf. She’s the daughter of one of my co-workers and everyone who meets her falls instantly in love. I never would have guessed she has a heart disease.

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning, bouncing around the house, yelling, “It’s here! It’s here!” But instead of a jolly red-suited man bringing me toys, The Bellevue Collection has given me a big, giant fashion-forward present wrapped in shiny design gazing and glitzy documentary watching: Bellevue Fashion Week.

When I raised my hand at Seattle magazine’s weekly pitch meeting and volunteered to write what I thought would be a 200-word blurb covering the new opening of David Barton’s gym at the Bravern, I learned a valuable lesson. Never volunteer. Over the course of the last week, my assignment has morphed from that 200-word blurb to a three-month-long membership with personal training 3 to 4 times a week, and a targeted nutrition plan that I have *promised* to follow. (If you’re going to read this blog, I should warn you—I will probably whine about this.

All across the Northwest many of us are wondering if this might indeed be the final weekend of sunny warm weather for 2009, and if so, how to make the most of it. Well here are a few ideas: Rent a lodge room at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, just 80 miles east of Seattle, and indulge in a little fly fishing, hiking, or bicycling. Bring the family along for fun in the indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs and water slides.

I first became interested in food photography when I started taking photos for my personal blog, www.thecookbookchronicles.com This summer, I interned with Lara Ferroni, a renowned food photographer who lives here in Seattle.

It’s a pleasure to be writing for Scoop, and I hope to keep readers up-to-date on what’s new and different in the great outdoors and the environment, both in town and beyond. To that end, this coming weekend, on Sunday evening 9/20 from 5-8 pm, is the 10th anniversary party for local non-profit Stewardship Partners.
