I don’t need to try to convince you to shop consignment. Either you do or you don’t. Personally, I love it, mostly because I can get high-quality goods for less money and currently I’m in a more-is-more phase of wardrobe building. Which is why I’m excited to check out Mary-Bridget Pehl’s online consignment shop, MB’s Finds, and shop her upcoming pop-up on June 7 and 8 (at 1930 First Ave., right next to Baby & Co., like her Facebook page for more details).

When my dad had cancer eleven years ago, Gilda’s Club was there for him and that support made him happy. It was that simple. When we were there, he was happy, and that was all that mattered, so I’m forever grateful to this organization for that and those memories and like to do whatever I can to support them.

I don’t know about you, but I love bags. My mom just commented the other day on how many purses, handbags and totes I have—and this is coming from the queen clotheshorse of all time. Nonetheless, it’s true, I have a ton of them, and while they’re not expensive or designer, they’re all distinctive in some way, which is what I look for specifically in my accessories, from bags to jewelry.

Ok, so maybe it’s not the right time of year to be talking cashmere, but I’m so in love with this new-to-me line that I wanted to share it ASAP. Scout Vintage Rentals’ Jenn Elliott Blake has announced her intention of turning her vintage collection of vintage accessories, furniture, linens, fabric and pillows into an online marketplace of rustic chicness. Every year for the last 10 years, Northwest Hope and Healing, a local non-profit that provides emotional and practical support to the families of women going through breast and gynecological cancer treatment, has thrown a big party and fashion show as their annual fundraiser. $700,000 later, Style ’13, the eleventh annual Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good! event is set for this Thursday, May 9 at the Showbox Sodo.

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple, but as a middle-aged woman, I’ll channel my inner “geriatric starlet” (to steal her phrase) and wear sunglasses by the inimitable Iris Apfel, the 92 year-old interior decorator and fashion icon instantly recognizable by her big, round black framed glasses and layers of amazing jewelry. The Metropolitan Museum of Art feted Apfel in 2005 during an exhibit named Rara Avis (Rare Bird): The Irreverent Iris Apfel, with a focus on her personal possessions and personal flair.
