The Nordstrom Men’s Shop and GQ Fall 2013 Runway Show, benefiting the Detlef Schrempf Foundation at the recent Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection, was all about accessible fashion, and of course, the models. Several local male celebrities, including Steve Hauschka of the Seattle Seahawks, Michael Gspurning and Andy Rose of the Seattle Sounders, Brian and J.P.
Paychi Guh, our current fave cashmere line, is the star of the show at W Seattle's Wear Wednesday, tomorrow, October 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. Join designer Karen Guh as she shows off her entire fall collection and indulge in this dreamy textile. Don't hesitate to drape yourself in her sweaters and scarves—it's all to delicious not to. Guh will also have samples and swatches of her next collection, something that we're hotly anticipating.
Seattle-based women’s eyewear company Rivet & Sway takes its specs out for a spin starting today with Specs on Wheels, a pop-up shop fitted onto a snazzy, orange and white tricycle that artfully displays its chic and colorful frames. Through the end of November, the three-wheeled shop will be on hand at North Seattle’s Caruh Salon & Spa on Wednesday through Sunday (6217 Roosevelt Way NE Ste.
LA-based skincare company, Orogold, has recently opened at Bellevue Square, bringing the beautifying benefits of gold with it. Each product in the brand’s line contains flecks of 24K gold, called nano-gold, which means they are super small, but in some cases still visible to the naked eye, suspended in lotion, serums and creams. Prices range from $168 to $600, with the priciest product topping out at $1,500.
On Saturday evening, the Seattle style set turned out to mark the conclusion of Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection with Front Row Fashion presented by Vogue, raising a total of $60,000 to benefit the Moyer Foundation, a non-profit supporting children in distress. The beloved Bellevue bash is easily the best bet for viewing the autumn arsenal stocked in the Bellevue Collection’s most stylish stores.
Tiffany originally released the Atlas collection in 1995 to much acclaim. The line, inspired by the mythic Greek god who carries the globe on his back, incorporates Roman numerals in its modern design and is chic and timeless. This summer, the brand re-released the Atlas collection, updating its iconic look, while retaining everything that has made it so cool since its release nearly 20 years ago.
Menswear is having a moment. Dudes are donning blazers, ties, chinos, wing tips and even cravats these days, and are really embracing a more formal approach to dressing. It’s nice. We like it and want to encourage it.
Neiman’s is trying to compete for your fashion attention on Saturday, September 28 with their Cusp Event from 2 to 6 p.m. (luckily you can do this and still make the Vogue show at The Bellevue Collection if you’re tenacious). Cusp is Neiman’s contemporary and emerging designer section (Vince, Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang, Robert Rodriguez) and this year’s ad campaign is focused on the edgy women of rock and roll, namely Natalie Bergman of Wild Belle, ZZ Ward and Noelle Scaggs of Fitz and the Tantrums.
Lambs Ear in Fremont is welcoming stylist Ciara Ramos and her new project, DA:DA colección, a pop up shop filled with “wearable vintage that’s interesting looking rather than ‘retro’ looking,” she explains. “I'm doing all the styling and photography myself—the stark, sometimes off-kilter Juergen Teller-esque vibe is very intentional… wanted to try something that was completely my vision thru and thru.”
Jason Wu and Nordstrom are totally besties right now. The designer returned to the city for the second time in a month last week (the first was a personal appearance for his Nordstrom exclusive clothing collection, Miss Wu, at the Bellevue store) to chat about his Lancome makeup collection, also a Nordstrom exclusive.
Seamless in Seattle accessory co-winner Joanna Morgan has announced two trunk shows this fall. The first, on Thursday, September 26, is from 5 to 8 p.m. at Far4 and the second, on October 12 from noon to 5 p.m., is at Clementine in West Seattle. Expect the latest designs from her Talisman collection as well as one-of-kind pieces for the diehard fan.
This is one of my favorite weeks of the year: The Bellevue Collection’s fashion week, where Bellevue Square merchants, Vogue, and this year, GQ, come together for a fashion extravaganza. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, these shows are beautifully produced, super fun and a great way to get a glimpse of fall trends come to life. Bonus: you can walk right across the street from the venue and snap those trendy clothes up right off the rack.
