Eric Banh's delicious take on Vietnamese-inspired food has made him a favorite since he first opened Monsoon thirteen whopping years ago (feel old reading that?). He's since expanded with an Eastside Monsoon and with a couple of Baguette Box sandwich shops.

This week I'm hoping to get a peek inside of Local 360, the new Belltown market and restaurant which is open for breakfast (chicken fried steak & eggs), lunch (corned beef Reuben with beef tongue, anyone?) and dinner (pork belly & beans, short rib pot roast) in the old Flying Fish space on 1st and Bell. Marcus Charles, part-owner of the Crocodile and owner of the Juju Lounge, is the brains behind the place, and early word has been very good.

Fremont’s newest casual Korean dining spot, Revel, starts its brunch program this Saturday. From what we're hearing, the brunch menu is taking a nod from chefs Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi's Asian-inspired dinner menu (which features noodles; dumplings; salads; rice dishes; etc.). Head to Fremont this weekend to find sweet and savory pancakes, sandwiches and Kimchi Bloody Marys.

Local 360, a Melrose Market-esque collection of shops anchored by a restaurant, is slowly, bit-by-bit opening in the former Flying Fish space in Belltown. Right now the coffee bar is open, and soon (in the next couple of weeks, I'm told) they'll add breakfast and lunch. The butcher and cheese counters will follow in February.
Breakfast sets the metabolic pace for the rest of the day. A good one contains carbohydrate, protein, fat and fiber. All of the nutrient groups. Don't leave one out. Put some nuts or granola and a little butter on a warm bowl of steel cut oats and you've got it all. Printable recipe here.

On Wednesday, we heard that Revel, the new Korean street-eats place from the owners/chefs at Joule, is opening today! And that Scott Staples' Uneeda Burger will open in a week or so. That's great news for Fremonters.

The Local Vine is offering a fun way to learn (and taste!) the difference between champagne and other sparkling wines this Thursday, December 16th at 6pm-8pm. A collection of over 20 bubbly wines will be poured, including bottles that range in price from $10 to over $200. Some selections offered include Grand Marque Champagne, Grower Champagne, California Sparkling, as well as other hard to find, specially produced samples from around the world.
