Seattle Beer Week activities
It's been a busy month of drinking. First, Cinco de Mayo, followed quickly by Seattle Beer Week (which is really 11 days). The heady festivities end Sunday, May 18. Here are 5 ways you can still celebrate, whether you just want a cheap pint or a smorgasbord of bacon to wash it all down with. At long last, Ethan Stowell’s new fish and chips joint, Chippy’s, is open for business on Ballard Avenue. It’s located directly next door to his other restaurant, Staple & Fancy, in the former Dutch Bike Co. space inside the Kolstrand Building (also home to Walrus and the Carpenter and Barnacle).

Mariners Sriracha night at Safeco Field
Is this Sriracha’s jump the shark moment or a genius PR stunt? On May 22, Safeco Field is hosting Salute to Sriracha Night during the M’s vs. Houston Astros game. For $25, fans of the condiment can score a Main Level seat, a Mariners Sriracha t-shirt and a voucher for one Sriracha-centric dish: a Sriracha cream-cheese hot dog, Sriracha garlic fries or a Sriracha milkshake.

Babirusa opening on Eastlake
A little over two months ago (March 4), Eastlake Teriyaki closed down to make way for a new bar called Babirusa. It’s the newest project from owners Charles Walpole and Rene Gutierrez, who also operate Blind Pig Bistro next door. Tomorrow, it officially opens. Here are 10 things to know:

The highly anticipated 2014 James Beard Awards ceremony was last night, and Blaine Wetzel from the Willows Inn on Lummi Island walked away with a medalion for Rising Star Chef. He tied with Jimmy Bannos Jr. of Chicago’s Purple Pig.

Eric Johnson opening Stateside on Capitol Hill
