Just like her Capitol Hill counterpart John Sundstrom, Ericka Burke is re-emerging with three new projects this year. And also like Sundstrom, it’s all happening nearly a decade after opening her first Seattle restaurant, Volunteer Park Café.

Father's Day is fast approaching (it's Sunday, fyi), and while brunches seem to be reserved for moms for whatever reason, dad will still feel the love with these special menus.

Tom Douglas is planning to open a cantina/taqueria this fall because, why not? Tentatively called The Lone Stranger, it'll be located near the pod that houses all of his other restaurants in Belltown (Lola, Palace Kitchen, Dahlia Lounge, Serious Pie, Tanakasan) in The Martin building on Fifth and Lenora.  I sat down with Douglas to learn more about this new concept he’s launching. Brimmer & Heeltap interview with Jen Doak Mike Whisenhunt
One of the restaurants I review for the June issue is Brimmer & Heeltap. I’ve known proprietress Jen Doak for years, back when she managed The Tasting Room in Post Alley. It’s been fun to watch her career grow.

Sitka & Spruce's Álvaro Candela new chef at The Saint
Taco lovers, listen up. Two words why you need to get to The Saint as soon as possible: Álvaro Candela. La Bodega
For the June issue of Seattle Magazine I reviewed La Bodega, which is easily one of my favorite write-ups I’ve done since taking over the role of Food and Dining Editor back in February. Professionally, the story behind La Bodega is one of passion, which always makes for a good read. Personally, I’ve known owner Manu Alfau since he worked at Tavolata way back when.

And if you’ve never been, this is your last chance to check it out, which you should, because it’s sort of a spectacle.
