You probably know the brand Calypso St. Barth as a go-to for summer tunics and flowing resort wear, but trust us, it offers some pretty great cozy-chic fall/winter options as well including some pretty luxe cashmere sweaters, sleek embroidered Boho velvet pieces, beaded silk, supple leather and loads of other fashionable treats.
Must SeePhotos of Food at the Moment of Being Cooked(10/26 to 2/17/14, times vary) — How exactly does heat make an egg physically transform? Seattle entrepreneur Nathan Myhrvold helped popularize molecular gastronomy (the hyper-nerdy take on cooking) with his book Modernist Cuisine (2011). Now Photography of Modernist Cuisine: The Exhibition at the Pacific Science Center showcases 100 stunning large-format shots from the book. Read on for our interview with Myhrvold.
Sadly, once again the Mariners finished far outside of the playoffs (and by extension, the World Series). But the fall classic is still awfully fun for any baseball fan to watch, and I’m guessing we have a fair number of Red Sox and Cardinals fans in Seattle, too. So, I’ve lined up four cocktails that pair mighty well with this year’s baseball championship. (Game 2 of the series is tonight at 5:07 p.m.
While some of us can't resist the heaps of orange and white gourds at the nearby (read: easily accessible) grocery stores (I piled my cart high weeks ago with knobby and gnarled squashes, fat green pumpkins and oversized orange ones destined for my sub-par carving skills), there are plenty of people who love a good trek out to the pumpkin patch. And why not? It sounds like a whale of a good time, especially for pint-size pumpkin fans--many patches have corn mazes, petting zoos, inflatables, hayrides, hot kid-friendly beverages and beyond.
The Photography of Modernist Cuisine: The Exhibition opens Saturday at the Pacific Science Center, showcasing the celebrated images produced by Nathan Myhrvold, co-author of Modernist Cuisine as well as the founder and CEO of Intellectual Ventures.
We took to Facebook and asked our very loyal readers to share their favorite spots in which to hunker down with fellow fans and watch the Seahawks and/or the Huskies. There was an overwhelming consensus for The House Sports Pub in Greenwood--big screens! beer specials! And of course the obvious answers: Husky Stadium and CenturyLink Field.
Just got word that Gucci will be opening an 8,000 square foot store at The Bravern sometime in 2014. The Italian luxury retailer is taking over the spaces previously occupied by Piazza Sempione, Brooks Brothers and DNA 2050.
The new Gucci (the second in the Seattle-area, joining a downtown store) is intended to be a world flagship location for the brand.
It’s an election season and while many Seattleites are choosing to express themselves by voting, we think Halloween costumes are far more effective at shaping society. Should you opt to dress in one of these seven highly topical (and highly ridiculous) costume suggestions, we are not liable for any embarrassment, pointing or injuries that may occur at your Halloween party.

A year after launching their partnership with Topshop in 14 stores nationwide (including the Southcenter location) and online, Nordstrom has announced an expansion of their popular store-within-a-store to Bellevue Square, bringing the total number of Nordstrom/Topshop collabs to 42 nationwide.
Back in the day, I owned a small online boutique that I stocked with apparel, accessories and art from small indie businesses from the Pacific Northwest. One of my fave finds was Portland jeweler (artist? genius?), Stephanie Simek, whose false eyelash and real quail’s egg necklaces were some of my inventory.
South Lake Union kid’s shop, Tottini, is teaming up with two Seattle-based décor companies, Abnormals Anonymous, which makes amazingly cool wallpaper, and interior design team extraordinaire, Pulp Design Studios for a nursery giveaway worth over $6,000.
It’s always a thrill to stumble upon a new local designer who sets my Spidey sense off and Lu. by Jenny Fort has done it. Her Line No. 1 collection, currently looking for funding on Kickstarter is a two of my favorite things: chic and unique. Silhouettes are nontraditional, unless drop crotch MC Hammer pants are your standard, and will fit a range of personal styles and body shapes.
