Viaduct for Dummies: Now, With 25 Percent Less Whining!
So, the world didn't end this morning in Seattle—but we're not out of the woods, yet, according to the DOT. Just because this morning's commute was "a skate" for some of us (not me!), we should still expect serious traffic problems as the week progresses, as people lured into a false sense of security go back to their bad old ways. Don't do it!
But it was a pretty impressive effort this morning, in the rain, dodging apparently first-time bike commuters wobbling into traffic lanes. Attitude is everything, and mine was greatly helped by:
1. boss who might be as big a traffic phobe as I am;
2. no morning meetings scheduled;
3. leaving the house 30 minutes early;
4. snacks! in the car!
Due to an extreme lifestyle problem, my morning commute consists of driving from the eastside to Queen Anne Hill to SoDo. I'll spare you the details; suffice it to say, I'm considering Cartoon Network Homeschooling for the kids for the rest of the week. Meantime, we do have one bad-ass view out our front office windows: a very Mad Max, post-apocolyptic scene of twisted rebar and falling cement. Cool! If the traffic doesn't kill productivity, the demolition will.
